Partners in Education

La Salle Catholic College Preparatory is proud to join the University of Notre Dame in their commitment to the future of Catholic Education through our Partners in Education Program.

In 2005 the University of Notre Dame's President, Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., assembled the Task Force on Catholic Education to discuss and study the issues affecting our nation's Catholic schools. Chaired by the Rev. Timothy Scully, C.S.C., founder of the Alliance for Catholic Education and director of the Institute of Educational Initiatives, the Task Force was comprised of 50 leaders from throughout the country, including Catholic educators, diocesan representatives, philanthropists, investment specialists, and Notre Dame faculty and staff.

After 14 months of rigorous study and meetings, the Task Force released its final report in December 2006, entitled Making God Known, Loved and Served: The Future of Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in the United States. To date, 10,000 copies have been distributed throughout the country. The national impact of the report has catalyzed a renewed discussion on the future of Catholic education in the United States.

Mission Statement

La Salle Catholic College Preparatory is committed to partnering with area Archdiocesan elementary schools to achieve comprehensive improvement for our Portland-metropolitan elementary schools. By mobilizing the resources available to La Salle Prep and local school communities and implementing a set of best practices in a unique model of Catholic schooling, La Salle commits to magnify the quality of the spiritual, academic, and community experience of the students and families we serve.

Through this partnership, La Salle seeks to leverage a variety of resources to support area Catholic elementary schools in their efforts to improve academic achievement, strengthen Catholic identity, build community, improve financial independence and sustainability, and share best practices in the area of instruction. La Salle also provides current data on Catholic elementary school graduates to their respective elementary administrators in an effort to assist those schools in data driven decision making.

La Salle Prep serves local Catholic elementary schools in four primary ways:

  1. Identifying strategic partnerships that may be shared to contribute to the sustainability of our Catholic educational system
  2. Fostering academic excellence for all students
  3. Sharing best practices for sustainable governance, finance and advancement programs
  4. Engaging in faith formation and values-transmission rooted in the Catholic tradition
