Jasmine McIntosh ’24 named runner-up for Oregon High School Journalist of the Year!

Jasmine has been selected as one of two runners-up for the 2024 Oregon High School Student Journalist of the Year, earning a $500 scholarship toward college tuition. She's been an integral member of The Falconer staff since the start of her sophomore year, and she is now in her sixth semester with the publication, serving as the multimedia editor.

Cadence Wooden '24 named to the 2024 Portland Rose Festival Court

Cadence Wooden '24 was crowned Monday as the Metro East representative on the 2024 Portland Rose Festival Court.

In all, 15 students from Portland-area high schools will serve on the court. Each will receive a $3,500 scholarship courtesy of The Randall Group and one-on-one mentorship arranged by Unitus Community Credit Union.

Two-Time Pulitzer Prize Winner Eli Saslow Visits La Salle

Since near the beginning of the school year, students in Journalism and Advanced Journalism have been studying the work of Eli Saslow, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and writer-at-large for The New York Times. By reading, analyzing, and discussing Saslow’s work, which consistently appears on the front page of the Times, students were searching for answers to the course’s guiding questions: Why is journalism important, and what does excellent journalism look like?
