All incoming 9th grade students will take math and English placement tests to help determine class placement for next fall. Our department chairs will review your current teacher recommendations, standardized test scores, and transcripts along with the results of the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test.

La Salle is administering the MAP tests:

• Saturday, May 7, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
• Saturday, May 14, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
• Monday, May 16 at 3:30 p.m.

  The tests are not timed but students usually complete the two tests in 2-3 hours.

If you are taking a spring MAP test at your current school, please contact admissions@lsprep.org so we can get a copy of your results. You do not need to take the test at La Salle again.

If you would like to place into a world language class that is higher than the first level of that class, you will need to take a placement exam. Our teachers would like to learn more about your history and experience with the language in order to ensure the best placement. The exam includes both written and oral components.

To register for a World Language Placement Exam, please complete the registration form. The exams will take place in the world language classrooms at La Salle with our world language teachers.

• The German placement exam will be on Monday, May 23, at 3:30 p.m. 
• The Spanish placement exam will be on Wednesday, May 25, at 3:30 p.m. 
• The French placement exam is not yet scheduled. Please register for the exam (no date is on the form) and we will let you know about scheduling.

There are many ways for parents to get involved at La Salle and meet other families. We look forward to meeting with our new families starting next month at the New Parent Engagement meetings.

These one-on-one meetings will take place on campus with a member of the Advancement team. The meetings are a great way to learn how to get involved, ask questions, and find out how you can support La Salle. Meetings are scheduled for 45-minutes and for parents/guardians only (students do not attend).

Director of Athletics Chris George '97 is pleased to invite all incoming students to participate in our athletic programs. There will be an Athletic Orientation Night for new students and parents on May 23 at 6 p.m. in the Saalfeld Athletic Center. This event will welcome new families, share information to help with the transition to La Salle's athletic program, learn how parents can volunteer and support their child's athletic experience, answer questions, and build community.

Athletics Welcome Letter

Many La Salle families get involved in a carpool. Register here to add your name to the list of interested families. The registrar will send out the list to all interested families in June.

• If you are a newly enrolled student in the Class of 2026 or as a new transfer student, you will work with our registrar Liz Staggs, lstaggs@lsprep.org, to get your student ID number, login, and password.
• Ms. Staggs will send you an email with instructions and a link to a Google form so you can complete forecasting.
• Students are welcome to use the Forecasting Worksheet to assist with forecasting but you do not need to send that sheet to La Salle. 
• Student schedules will be available in late August. You will log into PowerSchool to see your schedule so save your login and password information.

Thinking about getting your new iPad? See the specifications here before you buy: 

• Students will need an iPad latest gen (7th generation or higher), iPad Air (2nd, 3rd, 4th gen), iPad Pro (9.7 in, 10.5 in, 11 in, 12.9 in) with iPadOS 13 or higher installed. Older models do not support necessary software features.
• Minimum storage should be at least 64 GB to ensure adequate storage. In this case, more is better so 64 GB is the minimum.
• Wi-Fi only - there is no need to purchase a cellular plan for your iPad. La Salle provides free wi-fi.
• We strongly recommend purchasing a protective case and keyboard as students will use iPads in class and at home. Accessories including earphones, earbuds, or Airpods are also useful at school. Accessories may be purchased with the iPad or from a separate online or in-store retailer but please ensure that you note your iPad model so you will purchase the appropriate case and keyboard.
