Financial Assistance: A Lasallian Philosophy

La Salle Prep is the smartest investment you can make in your child’s future.

We are committed to providing financial assistance for families who desire a unique Lasallian educational experience. La Salle has always been committed to serving families from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. 60% of students receive financial aid, and $3.2 million in aid has been awarded to families for the 2024-25 school year.

Financial Aid

We encourage all families to apply for financial aid if they anticipate needing help with tuition costs. There is no predetermined level of earnings automatically disqualifying families from receiving tuition assistance. A financial aid award is based on careful evaluation of all of the applicant’s financial information and is awarded as a four-year commitment. Families must re-apply for financial aid each year and can expect a similar award as the previous year as long as their financial circumstances have not significantly changed.

La Salle uses FACTS Management to help determine a family's financial need. FACTS evaluates a family’s ability to pay tuition based on a variety of factors, including family size, income, assets, net worth, and other pertinent data. The FACTS financial aid application is due January 10, 2025.

Applicants with the same income level may have other factors considered, such as the number of students at La Salle, assets owned and other personal circumstances. The determination is made on a case-by-case basis, and the school assists families with need although does not support lifestyle choices that might otherwise be able to be used for tuition.

Scholarships

La Salle is proud to offer a number of merit scholarships to incoming ninth graders. These scholarships recognize outstanding achievement in the following areas:

We also offer a legacy scholarship for students who have had a relative graduate from La Salle.

These scholarship awards are not based on financial need. Applications and a scholarship recommendation form are due by January 20, 2025.

Educators Discount

The Partners in Education program demonstrates our commitment to Catholic education by offering a 50% tuition discount to full-time teachers and administrators currently employed at Portland-metropolitan Catholic elementary schools.

To qualify, educators must submit the FACTS Financial Aid application by the priority deadline (January 10, 2025) as well as complete an application verifying their employment status and confirming three consecutive years of service at a local Catholic elementary school. This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring access to an exceptional, faith-based education for our colleagues who have devoted themselves to Catholic education.

San Miguel Scholars

San Miguel Scholars Program Overview
The San Miguel Scholars Program (SMSP) provides comprehensive financial aid, counseling, and programming support. It ensures that students who qualify for significant financial assistance also receive the resources and support structures necessary to thrive throughout their high school experience, including college exploration field trips and invitations to various leadership and community-building activities.

Financial Assistance
La Salle partners with generous donors, including Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC), to provide scholarships covering up to 100% of total tuition and fees. This program also funds books and classroom supplies, class retreat fees, TriMet bus passes, monthly school lunch credits, and more.

Application Process
Applicants to 9th grade must submit the admissions and financial aid applications by the primary deadline (January 10, 2025). Potential scholars are identified during the admissions and financial aid process and notified in their admissions decision packet in March 2025. Up to 10 incoming freshmen are admitted to the program each year.

Eligibility Requirements
La Salle uses the income guidelines of the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program to determine eligibility. For example, a family of four with an income up to $57,720 qualifies for the SMSP. Income guidelines are adjusted by household size. Scholars represent a range of academic performance and are the first in their families to attend college. Families who do not meet the SMSP income requirements can still access significant tuition assistance through our extensive need-based financial aid program.

Outcomes
Our academic programming ensures every graduate is college-ready. SMSP students work with a dedicated counselor to explore college options that align with their strengths and interests, receiving personalized support in the college search and application process.

Fees:
$400 enrollment fee due with the Enrollment Contract
$250 Graduation Fee (seniors only)

La Salle offers three tuition payment plan options, including a 12-month payment plan.

Keeping Activities Accessible: Our tuition and fee structure is designed to encourage participation and maximize involvement. La Salle does not charge individual participation fees for school-sponsored athletics, clubs, classes, labs, or electives. Families should budget to cover the following additional expenses:

Payment Plan Options

Parents may choose from one of the following tuition payment plan options:
● Plan A (One payment): One annual payment; due in full on or before August 1st
● Plan B (Two payments): Two semiannual payments; due August 1st and December 1st
● Plan C (Monthly payments): Twelve equal monthly payments made by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) will be deducted on the 20th of each month, beginning in July. Subject to a $150 finance charge.

Tuition Refund Policy

Students are accepted with the understanding that they will remain enrolled at La Salle Prep for the entire academic year. The school makes financial obligations to its faculty and staff based on this understanding and early withdrawals do not relieve the school of these important obligations. Therefore, it is understood by the parents and the school that tuition will be refunded based on the following schedule:

100% of the semester tuition is considered non-refundable and due in full after six (6) weeks of attendance in a given semester.
50% of the semester tuition will be due after four (4) weeks of attendance in a given semester.
Semester tuition is defined as one half of the full year tuition rate as published in your student's tuition contract.
Fees are non-refundable.
If a student is withdrawn from school for reasons beyond the control of the student or parents/guardian, the family may apply for relief by written request to the President.
