La Salle hosts the closing weekend of its fall show, "You Can’t Take it With You" by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, Nov. 15-17 in the La Salle Prep Theater.
Showtimes are 7 pm Nov. 15 and 16, and 2:30 pm Nov. 17. Buy tickets in advance online; tickets also will be sold at the door.
Directed by drama teacher Michael Shelton, the Tony-award winning comedy centers on a quirky yet sweet family that includes eccentric Grandpa, his playwright daughter, Penelope, and her husband, Paul, who makes fireworks in the basement.
The family also includes Penelope and Paul’s daughter, Essie, (an aspiring but uncoordinated dancer), her xylophone-playing husband, and sister, Alice, a secretary who seems to be the only normal one in the family. Enter Alice’s boyfriend, who also happens to be the son of her boss.
"I selected this show, in part, because I appreciate one of its messages: Your life is worth more than others' expectations of it," said Shelton. "We are all unique, we are all worthy, and there is a place for everyone. It is so important to find our own place beyond just stepping into 'the place' others have assigned for you."
