UPDATES AND CHANGES TRIGGERED BY COVID-19

Lasallians share gifts, hearts during Christmas Drive

Soccer balls, sweatshirts, stuffed animals, and boxes and boxes of Cheerios. It is early December and once again, the lobby of La Salle is filled with food and gifts for the families Falcons are supporting through the school's annual Christmas Drive.

The drive benefits 25 families whose children attend nearby Lot Whitcomb Elementary School, as well as The Insight Alliance, a nonprofit that supports children with parents who are incarcerated.

This year, many students and staff say they feel more connected to the families they are supporting, said Director of Service Sarah Maher. Many attended a webinar in which they learned about the diverse and radiant student body at Lot Whitcomb. Religion classes have been praying for families by name.

"Something feels different this year," said Maher, noting that many donors gave more than what families wished for. "People recognize that there is more of a need this year because of the pandemic."
