La Salle Prep’s football and boys soccer teams earn Academic All-State Awards for having the highest team grade point averages among all 32 of the state's 5A schools fielding teams in those sports.
Meanwhile, La Salle’s volleyball, girls soccer, and girls and boys cross country teams earned grades high enough to rank them among the Top 10 5A teams in their sport in Oregon.
The recognition is part of the OnPoint Community Credit Union Academic All-State Program, which recognizes outstanding achievement in the classroom. The boys and girls team in each Oregon School Activities Association-sanctioned activity with the highest team grade point average earns the Academic All-State Award.
Each member of a winning team receives a commemorative decal and certificate. Members of the Top 10 teams in each activity at each classification also are recognized.
La Salle Athletic Director Chris George '97 said he was "humbly not surprised that our kids can achieve great things in both areas."
"They work hard at it," he said. "And when you work hard it pays off. It's great to see them recognized for that, especially in a very challenging year for all students across the state."
