Students wrapped up La Salle's 15th Annual Christmas Drive on Wednesday by wrapping up the gifts they bought for more than 30 families.
The families all have children who attend nearby Lot Whitcomb Elementary School, where more than 90 percent of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.
Several La Salle students said that wrapping day, as it's known, is one of their favorite activities they do with their Falcon Formation classes. They crank up music and munch on snacks while they wrap toys, clothes, and treats for children they'll never meet.
"It's really good knowing that you are helping other kids," said Ana Lopez Bonilla '19. "It's an activity that opens your mind to the reality of what other families are living."
One recipient of the students' generosity, a woman with three children, described what La Salle gave to her family as "amazing."
Without the school's help, each of her children would have received only one gift, she said. "Now they are going to wake up to a Christmas tree full of presents."
Another family expressed thanks through a handwritten note they left at La Salle.
"Thank you all so much for your love and generosity," it said. "May God bless you and keep you well."
