CREDIT REQUIREMENTS - To earn a diploma from La Salle Prep, students must:
- Earn a minimum of 24 credits
- Meet all subject requirements (listed below)
- Take a minimum of six academic courses each semester
- Make up any course, required or elective, that they fail for a semester

• Religious Studies (4 credits)
Students take religious studies every semester they are in attendance at La Salle Prep.
• Physical Education/Health (2 credits)
Students are required to take Health I during their freshman year and PE II and Health II during their sophomore year. Students may choose from elective offerings to fulfill the remaining 0.5 PE requirement.
• English (4 credits)
Students must complete English I, English II (or Honors), English III (or Honors), English IV (or AP).
• Mathematics (3 credits)
Students must complete three years of mathematics at the Algebra 1 level or higher at La Salle Prep. Students who enter La Salle's math program as 9th graders at an advanced level are still required to complete three years of mathematics to meet the graduation requirement. Advancement is by departmental recommendation only and generally requires a final grade of "C" or better.
• Social Studies (3 credits)
Students are required to complete World History, US History (or AP US History), US Government (or AP US Government) and Economics.
• Science (3 credits)
Students in classes of 2011-2014 are required to complete Integrated Science (or pass challenge exam), one biology course and one chemistry course. Students complete their requirement by taking an elective science course their senior year. Beginning with the Class of 2015, students will be required to complete Conceptual Physics instead of Integrated Science in 9th grade, then Biology in 10th and Chemistry in 11th grade. Students will have the option of AP classes or Environmental Science as an elective for 12th grade.
• World Language (2 credits)
Students must complete two years of different levels of the same world language at La Salle Prep. Students who enter La Salle as 9th graders at an advanced level of world language must still complete two years of different levels of the same world language at La Salle. Advancement is by departmental recommendation only and generally requires a final grade of "C" or better.
• Fine Arts (1 credit)
Students are required to complete at least one year in the Fine Arts. Fine Arts include the dramatic, visual and performing arts (vocal and instrumental).
• Speech (0.5 credit)
Students are required to complete a speech requirement. This can be satisfied by Speech and Debate (0.5), Contemporary World Affairs (0.5), Multimedia and Web Development (0.5), a full year of Journalism or Drama (0.5 Speech + 0.5 Fine Arts).
• Service Learning is integrated into the curriculum of each grade level. Students must meet the service learning requirement each year to successfully move forward.
• Courses Taken Prior to 9th Grade
La Salle does not grant high school credit for a course taken prior to the 9th grade unless the course was taken as a high school credit and is documented on an official accredited high school transcript.
Students must receive approval from the vice principal for academics prior to enrollment in off-campus studies to have these courses reflected on their transcript. La Salle does not grant credit for work done outside of a classroom setting (music lessons, athletics, etc.).
