Student Support

Resources for Differentiated Learners

In the Catholic Lasallian heritage, La Salle Prep strives to provide a transformative education that allows students to realize their maximum potential. We believe that children learn best when they have appropriate opportunities for success in a supportive and inclusive community. In 2009, La Salle Prep created the Office of Student Support for students with mild to moderate learning differences. This program continues to provide invaluable support for students in our traditional college preparatory program. With the addition of the Signum Fidei ("Signs of Faith") Program, La Salle Prep now offers an educational pathway for students with moderate diagnosed learning differences.

Student Support in the College Preparatory Program

As a college preparatory school, La Salle Prep offers a rigorous and challenging curriculum. In light of our mission of access, La Salle Prep provides limited academic accommodations in our traditional college preparatory program through the Office of Student Support.

The Director works closely with the Counseling Department, faculty, staff, and students and their families to create a seamless network of support that begins immediately upon admission and lasts through graduation. Please contact the Office of Student Support, 503.353.1418 for more information about accommodations in the college preparatory program.

Signum Fidei Pathway

La Salle Prep's Signum Fidei Pathway is designed to provide a Catholic educational option for students with diagnosed moderate learning differences. Signum Fidei is an innovative program that operates within our current building and community. Students are integrated into the rich life of the school through shared electives and extra-curricular activities, but the core academic classes are taught in a cohort model of education. Led by two Special Education Certified Co-Directors, the program allows students to learn in a classroom setting with a 12:1 student-teacher ratio, which allows for a closely monitored progression of each student’s success.

Incorporated into our program are the Lasallian core principles of Faith in the Holy Presence of God, Respect for All Persons, Inclusive Community, Quality Education, Concern for the Poor, and Overcoming Injustice. Our program provides specialized instruction, small cohorts, ongoing assessments of learning, research-based literacy interventions, and transition planning. Our program fulfills Oregon diploma requirements with opportunities to go beyond Oregon minimum requirements. Ultimately, graduates from our program will demonstrate mastery of core concepts and exhibit citizenship with a dedication to serving others. Signum Fidei students exit the program prepared to be productive citizens in our community.
