Tournament Details

 

WHAT: A fun, festive, five-round chess tournament for all chess players in grades K-12.  This holiday tournament will be NWSRS rated, and has been designated as a qualifier for the OSCF 2020 State championship in Seaside.  Time control is G30, no delay. New: FREE bonus tournament for parents.

 

WHEN: Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Half-point byes can be arranged for players arriving late or leaving early for other activities. (Contact Tournament Director) Players should log-on by 8:30. Games will start at 9 am.

 

WHERE: This year's tournament will be VIRTUAL. All players must have an individual computer (desktop or chromebook preferred) plus ZOOM and LICHESS accounts to participate. Get a free LICHESS account here: www.lichess.org 

 

HOW: Everyone plays five games online! REGISTER HERE. Early-bird cost is $25 if registered by Sunday, December 6. Cost doubles thereafter. Registration packet full of Yuletide cheer (including access codes and swag) will be mailed out the week before the tournament. Register early to guarantee your spot.

AWARDS:

  • Custom victory medals for all students finishing with a plus score (3+ points).
  • Top trophy awards to individual students finishing 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in their division. The following divisions are planned:
    • K - 3
    • 4 , 5, 6, 7, 8 and
    • 9 - 12
    • These divisions may be condensed or expanded based on participation levels
  • King's Gift bonus will be awarded for the middle school with the most participants.

  • Great practice for upcoming Regionals and State tournaments
  • New this year: Free BONUS tournament for parents is included with your paid child registration. Now you too can experience the thrill of a rated chess tournament. No trophies/medals; just fun bragging rights!
