La Salle Affinity and Allyship Groups 2021/202

Affinity Groups

An affinity group is a group of people that share a similar identity.  Identity-based affinity groups at La Salle Prep are based on:

  • Race/ethnicity
  • Gender identity

Allyship of Alliance Groups

An allyship or alliance group is a group that is open to people that have similar identities as well as allies (those that would like to support those who have an identity they do not share).

Current affinity groups and allyship groups:

  • Asian American Pacific Islander
  • Black Student Union
  • Middle Eastern Student Union
  • Pride Alliance
  • Unidos

Affinity groups support La Salle’s development of cultural competence and acknowledge the human dignity of all as well as living the stated values of the school: Respect for all persons and inclusive community.

These student-run groups offer a space for students to discuss their experiences among peers who share a common identity. Through these organizations, students develop self-awareness, gain cultural knowledge, problem-solve social interactions, and build communities of support.
