Writing the College Application Essay
Instructor:  Jen Brigham
Open to incoming La Salle 12th graders
$150

August 12 - 15; Monday - Thursday

The prospect of having to compose and submit a personal essay is, for many students, the most daunting aspect of the college application process. This class helps demystify this process and will prepare students to write with confidence. In four half-day sessions, we will take a deep dive into the process of crafting an essay that amplifies each student’s own voice. Students will use guided techniques to brainstorm ideas for topics that reflect their values and story while responding to one of the Common Application prompts. We will highlight and practice specific writing strategies that will enhance their essays. Students will have the opportunity to draft and get feedback during the class.

Please Note:  Senior English classes will continue to provide resources and support for this process, but this course allows students to jump start this process before the school year begins.
