Career Day Inspires the Next Generation of Falcons

On Wednesday, January 29, La Salle Prep held its bi-annual Career Day, welcoming over 60 presenters representing more than 20 fields of work. Sponsored by the Alumni Association, Career Day empowers students to envision their futures as they network with a variety of professionals, organizations and small businesses.

The day began with an address from keynote speaker Dr. Kathryn Mueller Kolonic '98, an alumna and physician leader with an almost 25 year career in the healthcare industry. Born and raised in Milwaukie, Dr. Kolonic described her time at La Salle as incredibly formative.

“The foundation of my life was built here at this school,” she said. Yet she also encouraged students to look forward to their lives beyond the classroom. “Your story doesn’t end at graduation,” she said. “You have a whole lifetime to figure that out.

Following this address, students attended three, 30 minute career workshops of their choice. With sessions in everything from graphic design, to aerospace engineering, to environmental conservation, there was something for every Falcon. The day concluded with a career fair featuring a variety of local employers, giving students the chance to make individual connections in their field of interest.

From the Alumni Association and the entire La Salle community, a huge thank you to Dr. Kolonic and all of the professionals, volunteers, and organizations that made Career Day such a success!
