Creative Excellence: Visual Art Students Garner Prestigious Scholastic Art Awards

La Salle’s talented Visual Art students brought home 24 coveted Scholastic Art Awards this year, earning four Gold Key works, six Silver Key works, and 14 Honorable Mentions.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, founded in 1923, stand as the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual and literary arts. The students' artwork was reviewed and recognized by a panel of creative professionals, and awarded for its outstanding merit in originality, skill, and the emergence of personal voice and vision.

Notably, the Gold Key-awarded works have automatically advanced to the national level of judging in New York City. National Medalists will be announced on June 11, 2024.

Over the past century, the Scholastic Awards program has recognized some of America’s most celebrated artists and writers during their teenage years. Past award recipients include Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Amanda Gorman, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Andy Warhol.

La Salle is proud to count these talented students among the ranks of such distinguished Scholastic Awards alumni!
