In celebration of Ash Wednesday, La Salle was honored to welcome Fr. Paul Ybarra from Holy Redeemer to lead the first Mass of the Lenten season. The service emphasized the importance of connection during this 40-day period–reminding students that Lent is a time to spread love. Instead of turning inward into their own lives, students were challenged to look out for others in need.
After Fr. Ybarra’s sermon, students received their ashes. Placed on their forehead in the shape of a cross, they symbolize the remembrance and mourning of Jesus’ death, and the preparation for Easter and his resurrection.
As we enter into the season of Lent, may our community embrace this 40-day period with open minds and hearts, upholding our Lasallian Catholic values.
