La Salle counselors encourage all families to watch the Parent Presentation, Adolescent Mental Health in the Time of COVID and Distance Learning: 7 Pillars to Help Your Adolescent and Family Strengthen Emotional Health, and Even Thrive, During this Period, presented by Yshai Boussi, MA. During this presentation Mr. Boussi will discuss the seven pillars of adolescent mental health during this uniquely challenging time and provide practical strategies to help you and your teen apply each one. Mr. Boussi is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in the Portland metro area at Portland Family Counseling. In addition to individual counseling, Mr. Boussi offers workshops and classes for parents, educators and teens and writes a parenting blog with tips for parents with teens. The presentation is now available for viewing on demand here.

A free 24-hour crisis, support, and helpline for youth.
YouthLine is a teen-to-teen youth crisis and support service provided by Lines for Life—a non-profit dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide. YouthLine operates a national helpline that provides crisis support and referrals via call, text, and chat. The YouthLine is answered by teen volunteers daily from 4pm-10pm PST (and by adults at all other times!).

A message to parents and caregivers about COVID-19

COVID-19 has changed life dramatically for all of us. Facing these uncertain times has resulted in a range of feelings and concerns. 

 

Like adults, our students are likely experiencing anxiety, frustration, sadness, loneliness, and loss while they miss routines, friends, athletics, and activities. They are trying to stay socially connected while being required to stay physically apart.

 

To help you and your family navigate these unprecedented times, we have posted resources below and on our website. Please share them with your student -- and remember to take care of yourself, too.
